We live in a business climate that is increasingly volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous. In these challenging conditions, leaders must work closely with their teams to: react quickly to continual changes that are unpredictable and out of their control, act without being able to see the whole picture, work in an environment that is increasingly complex and full of interdependencies, and work under conditions that are often outside their areas of expertise.
COURSE OBJECTIVES: In this course, leaders will learn and apply key skills and strategies for helping the people they lead become more flexible and resilient in this challenging environment. These include:
- Fostering trust, psychological safety, and autonomy on your team.
- Aligning your people’s work with the larger strategy and purpose of the organization.
- Building learning agility. This is not just the ability to learn, it’s also avoiding entrenched biases and learning to ‘unlearn’. It’s about being able to frequently update your thinking to reflect new data, and information—even if it’s contrary to your most cherished beliefs.
- Learning to value and reward desired behaviors (collaboration, curiosity, flexibility, resilience, fortitude, etc.) as much as required job skills.
- Becoming obsessively customer focused and watching your competition like a hawk.
- Helping others think in ‘systems’ and see their work from the balcony—not just the dancefloor.
- Using the principles of design thinking to get results (e.g., prototyping, failing fast and moving on, etc.).
- Assisting your team in building a personal network and harnessing organizational enablers (resources available within the organization they can use to learn and help increase performance).
- Helping your team members become more resilient in the face of constant change
TARGET AUDIENCE: Up to 20 frontline or senior leaders that want to bring an increased sense of stability to an otherwise volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous work environment.
MODALITIES: The course is offered in multiple modalities:
- 60-90-minute webinar (a truncated overview for larger audiences)
- Two to three 120-minute instructor led virtual courses
- A 1-2 day in-person class. This course can use mixed modalities as well. We can be very flexible and customize the course depending on what your organization needs covered.
